Question:
We have a 2011 Ford Expedition EL with 4 wheel drive. We will be driving to Montana this December for the hoidays and would like to have a set of snow chains\cables for the drive. Also, I have a snow plow for the EL which I will use to plow the dirt\gravel driveway when we are at our cabin, so the chains\cables will need to do double duty. Finally, can I put chains\cables on the front for more traction when plowing.

We have a wide selection of tire chains for you to choose from for your 2011 Ford Expedition EL, but for your situation, I would recommend either the Glacier Chains V-Bar Snow Chains, # PWH2828SC, or the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains, # PWE2439S, assuming you still have the factory tires and wheels.
The V-Bar chains will be stronger and more effective than the cable style tire chains that you referenced on a gravel driveway or when plowing. They are made of low carbon steel chain links, rather than coiled steel wrapped around rubber. The V-Bar chains also have ice breakers for superior traction and are more economically priced compared to our other chain link tire chains.
The Pewag All Square chains are made of a manganese nickel alloy steel offering superior strength, durability and corrosion resistance. Unlike the cable chains and V-bar chains, these chains are rated for on road and off road use. Since you may find your self in a situation where you will encounter mud along with snow and ice, these chains are the ideal tire chains for extreme environments.
I have attached product links for both tire chains that I have mentioned as well as links to 2 FAQ articles on tire chains for you to check out. The FAQ articles will offer an overview of tire chains as well as comparisons between the different styles of chains.
You will also see a link to all of the tire chains that we offer for the tire sizes that typically come with your vehicle. Simply select your tire size and a list of compatible tire chains will appear.
You can certainly use the tire chains on the front tires for more traction when plowing. It is recommended to use the tire chains on your drive wheels, but since your vehicle is a 4 wheel drive, there is no problem.
