The Ratcheting Handle for Dutton-Lainson Pulling Winches # DL70371 is only confirmed to be compatible with the DL1602A, DL1802A and DLx1900 pulling winches. The DL1400 was discontinued in 1990 so I don't have a way to determine compatibility. The updated version if that is what you are referring to is the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - Single Speed - 1,400 lbs # DL15303 which unfortunately will not work with the ratcheting handle but is a great option.
