With this rack on my 2017 GMC 61/2ft bed allow me to carry 20 ft lumber?

The Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07705 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 and has an 800 lb weight capacity so it would work great to carry lumber like you mentioned. For ratchet straps then we have the part # 34413 which will work great as well.
If you wanted a similar rack with an overhang that might offer more support for the lumber a little more we also have the Thule TracRac part # TH91000 that fits.
