Can I Put Two Hullavators on my Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Question:

I want to carry 2 kayaks that have a total weight of 126 lbs on my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. With the Hullavators length of 36inch it would seem that the crossbars need to be a minimum of 72. Yakima offers a 76inch crossbar, but that would mean the cross bar would extend approximately 16inch past the mounting towers for the crossbars. Is this OK, or do I need to mount 2 sets of 53inch crossbars with a hullavator on each one?

We do have a way to haul two kayaks but we do not recommend installing 2 Thule Hullavators # TH898 on your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The roof rack capacity of your Jeep is 165 pounds. The weight of your 2 kayaks, 2 Hullavators, and crossrails is approximately 216 pounds. By weight alone you are exceeding your Jeep's capacity. On top of that, you will exceed your vehicle's width and will not be legal in most states.

I do have a different solution for you. The etrailer # e98878 J-Style Kayak Carriers allow you to get two kayaks on the roof of your Jeep. I realize that this does not give you the loading assist you might have wanted, but it is one of very few solutions that meet your weight and space limits.
