Question:
I am trying to install a full roof platform on my van but I cant find any info on exactly what type of crossbars and mounts to use. I need to have at least 4 evenly placed along the roof. can I mound into the roof or do I need clamping mounts? any help would be great, thank you

I may have a solution for you, but I'm not showing any roof racks that are going to connect directly to any fixed mounting points or via rain gutters. You could go one of two directions with this that would allow you to mount a roof platform like the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray # Y05044 on your 1999 VW Eurovan.
You could use something like the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack - Vacuum Cup Mount - 48" Long - Black # 298-SX6000B, which are the easiest to install option since they attach to your roof via suction cups. This is a great choice for vehicles with limited mounting options for a roof rack and would be my recommendation based on that, plus it will allow you to carry a LockNLoad platform like the one mentioned above when you add the Crossbar Clamps for Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack - Qty 2 # Y05039.
If you're looking for a more permanent solution and don't mind a more intensive installation you can install roof tracks like the Yakima 60 inch Roof Tracks # Y01135 on your roof. From there you would also need the SkyLine Towers # Y53TR and Yakima Landing Pad 1 # Y00221 to create the towers that attach to the tracks that will hold the cross bars. These two items are sold in pairs, so you would need 2 pairs to create a 2 crossbar system. For the crossbars, the Yakima CoreBar Crossbars - Steel - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2 # Y00422 would be a good choice since they're aerodynamic and will reduce some of the wind noise that is common with roof racks. These bars will also allow you to carry the LockNLoad platform either using the # Y05039 clamps or you can forgo the crossbars altogether by mounting the platform directly to the Skyline towers using the # Y05042; this method would require that your towers and tracks are installed at a specific distance apart that corresponds to the LockNLoad platform. I don't really recommend this method since it would limit your options in the future, but it can be done.
I'm linking some review videos of these parts, as well as linking all of our available cargo platforms for you to look at and choose the size that might work the best for your particular roof and rack.
