Where Does O-Ring Install When Using Bearing Buddy Grease Seal BB60002

Question:
I changed my axles last summer to bearing buddies, along with changing to the spindle seal kit #2. My spindles appear to be std. 1750 lb., the inner bearing is L68149. After noticing some leaking, I found that the O-rings on both sides were shredded after only a few months and ~1000 miles on the road. Even with that, one side is leaking and the other isn’t. I’ve reassembled everything without the rings because I didn’t have replacements, and still only one is leaking. I’m confused on a few points: first, I gather that the o-rings are supposed to go on the spindle between the stainless part and the bearing, but Jameson C in question-310623 says they go between the SS rings and the seals, am I supposed to put the O-rings around the SS ring? Second, I see in the product page that if I have surface rings on my spindle I don’t need the seal kit at all, but I don’t see any seals on your site with the same OD, but a smaller ID to match my spindle’s surface rings. Thanks for your help, the sizing and number of models makes this simple task very complicated and time consuming.

If you use the O-ring of the Bearing Buddy grease seal kit you'll want to use the attached diagram to assemble everything. This came straight from Bearing Buddy so hopefully it clears up any confusion. Not every application uses these but if you are using a Bearing Buddy they are recommended since they end up with more pressure in the hub than applications without. Seals do tend to have issues randomly and sometimes its hard to have an exact reason. If you are using a Bearing Buddy typically it's from putting too much grease in the hub.
