Why is There Some Play In Trailer Suspension When Installed

Question:
By my calculation the bolts and straps in this kit will result in a 1/4 gap when used with standard 1-3/4 wide springs, why is that?

Trailer leaf spring suspension needs to have some ability to move otherwise it won't work. This is why when you install kits like the # MR58ZR there will be some play to allow the suspension to function and move.
