Question:
Wanting to use your double reel winch to put on a lift I am making to remove the Top on my 2020 Jeep. Which model do you recommend. Also, I want to mount it in the vertical position. Thanks

A worm gear winch like the Dutton-Lainson # DL10952 winch you'd looked at would be ideal. The 1500 lb capacity is more that you'd ever need, but the great thing about a worm gear winch is that it will NOT freewheel if you stop cranking and let go of the handle so there's no worries about the Jeep Top crashing to the ground if your hand slips on the handle. Once you stop cranking, the load stays in place and will stay there until you resume cranking. You might also consider the # DL10965 which features a removable handle that will let you use a cordless drill with a 5/8 inch socket to operate the winch. This is a great feature because by design, worm gear winches move very slowly so the option to use a cordless drill/driver to operate it will be quicker and much less tedious.
The winch can indeed be mounted vertically.
I've linked to a product description video featuring the removable handle model that can be operated using either then handle or a drill/driver.
