What Are the Surco SPS4550 Safari Roof Basket Interior Dimensions

Question:

Always love buying from eTrailer! I plan on mounting this rack basket to a A.R.E. DCU commerical shell on a Tacoma. I will fabricate a mounting bracket to bolt this rack directly to the shell. My question is what the inside dimensions are for the basket. I plan on mounting two 100watt solar panels inside the basket. The panels are each 48inch in length by 21.5inch wide. It sounds like the dimensions listed on the site are for overall length and width and my panels would fit ok side by side taking up about 48inch in length and 42-43inch in width. Thank you,

I was able to find out from Surco that the retaining bars on the # SPS4550 are only 3/4" thick, so you'd lose roughtly 1-1/2" wide and in length, bringing the total interior dimensions down to 48-1/2" long x 43-1/2" wide. It's going to be a tight fit, but I think you'll be able to make it work.
