I recently installed a Hopkins trailer light kit. When it is plugged in to the trailer my car says the blinkers are out and none of the lights work the Jeep or trailer. My question is does this product work with the computer system to not trick it into thinking there is a light out?

A Hopkins wiring harness is absolutely compatible with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, but it depends on the harness; you will need a wiring harness that is designed specifically to fit your '14 Cherokee in order for it to work.
The correct Hopkins harness is the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11142464.
This will plug in behind your tail lights and you'll run a hot lead to your battery for the install, as you can see by the linked installation instructions.
Additionally, to prevent corrosion on your 4-way, as well as increase its durability and extend its lifespan I highly recommend using Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755.
