Question:

I have a tandem axle boat trailer that has drum brakes which stopped working on both axles. Im converting to disc brakes but it seems like the only option it gives me for a full kit is one with hydraulic-electric brakes. I have a 5 on 4 1/2 and I dont have an option for that. If I put disc brakes on both axles do I have to double my order or is there a full kit for tandem axles that use the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout? Thanks.

If you are looking to use your Demco brake actuator you need to make sure it is compatible with disk brakes. Some actuators will only work with drum brakes because drum brakes do not require as much "pound per square inch" of fluid as a disk brake set up does. If it does not then you have to replace the actuator. I recommend Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator - Disc Brakes - 2" Ball - Zinc Plated - 7,500 lbs
Item # 099-175-20. It is a bolt on application with the reverse lockout feature, 700 lb max tongue weight, fits a 2" ball and mounts on a 3" wide channel tongue. Unfortunately we do not offer a kit that is set up without the electric over hydraulic. You have to obtain the brake kits for each axle. As long as your hydraulic lines are not damaged you should only need to add the disk brakes kit to each side of the axle and connect your current lines to them.
