Can the 12V Everchill RV Refrigerator Be Turned Off By Turning Down Temp Control Knob
Updated 08/03/2020 | Published 07/30/2020 >
Question:
Can the refrigerator be shut off inside the refrigerator by turning up the temperature control so that only the light is draining the battery? If it takes a 12 VDC switch to keep it from running, can it be mounted inside the trailer or does it need to be mounted outside in the back of the refrigerator?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The temperature control knob on the inside of the Everchill RV Refrigerator part # 324-000119 will not completely shut off the unit (compressor), this will need to be done by removing power which as you mentioned can be done pretty easily by wiring it up with a toggle switch. In regards to choosing the switch location, you can go outside if the switch is rated for this (marine) but you need to be aware of the amp draw and the gauge of wire being used.
