A weight distribution hitch is needed if your loaded trailer's weight is more than 50 percent of your vehicle's GVWR. Based off of what you mentioned of a car trailer with a 5,700 lb Jeep, it is very likely going to be more than half of the GVWR of your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500.
For a weight distribution, if your total tongue weight - the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind your truck's real axle - is 1,000 lbs we do have a very good option; I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66560.
This will give you a set up that gives you outstanding sway control via friction in the spring bars to ensure you never have to worry about your trailer swaying. It also uses clamp-on brackets so you won't have to drill along your trailer frame, and allows you to back up with the system on. To use it you will need Hitch Ball # 19286.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.
