Roof Rack for Thule Hullavator on 2016 BMW X5

Question:

I have 2016 x5 50i F15 I like the rhino rack and your site is recommending the 53inch model below but Im afraid thats not enough to fit Hullavator. Then I see theres a 59-60inch version of bar but not sure if thats too much. What bar set would you recommend? Should I look for something around 56inch area? If I try the 53inch and doesnt work can I replace with 60inch and at what cost? I see bars are the same cost. Models: RRVA150B-2. 59 RRVA137B-2. 53

Since the Thule Hullavator # TH898 requires 4"-8" of overhang I would go with the 59" Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA150B-2 to be safe.

The recommended 54" Rhino-Rack # RRVA137B-2 is going to provide a nice streamlined look for your 2016 BMW X5 but it won't give you enough overhang for the Hullavator to work. The added 2.5" on each side seems like a significant jump in size but it is necessary to get the carrier out further to avoid contact with your X5.

You will also need to pickup the proper footpack to attach your bars to your X5. If you have flush rails that run front to back on each side you will need Rhino-Rack SRB Legs # RRSX026. If you have a bare or naked roof you will need Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA and the Custom DK Fit Kit # DK062
