Troubleshooting Trailer WIring Issue Where Light
Question:
I have a 2016 Dodge Ram and I just hans made a trailer. I have connected the lights and they will not work. I get a spark from the trailer receptacle but not lights. I connected it to another source and they work fine. Any thoughts on what would allow a spark but the lights not work?

Since you are getting a spark but not the light functions, I recommend double checking your wiring for a location where the power wire hits the bare frame which is ground. That short circuit would cause the spark. I've attached an article to assist with the wiring and then you can troubleshoot using the circuit tester # PTW2993.
