Whats the correct procedure to break in a new generator?

Expert Reply:
We consider the first 5 hours of run time on the etrailer 4500-Watt # 333-0005 to be the break-in period for the unit. During the break in period stay at or below 50 percent of the running watt rating and vary the load occasionally to allow stator windings to heat and cool. Adjusting the load will also cause engine speed to vary and help seat piston rings
The only thing we do recommend is that the first oil change should happen after 25 hours of use, but after that you will only need to change it every 100 hours.
