Can Wires on Replacement Axle be Used for Electric Brakes

Question:
The brakes have 2 green wires but what is the function of the brown wires comming directly out of axel? Can one of them be used as a ground?

The brown wires on the axle # T3584F-8974 can be used to cross your electric brake power from one side to the other. You'll need to get power and ground from the trailer's 7-way to one brake assembly and then splice in the brown wires on the axle, one to power and one to ground. Then connect each of the wires to the brake on the other side of the axle.
The brown wires can also be used for brake lights instead of the brakes themselves in the same fashion but not both.
