Can the Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer Be Used with 3/16" Chain

Question:

Can you use a 3/8 retainer with a 5/16 inch chain? The reason for this is the higher rating retainer instead of 10,000 its rated at 25,000.

The Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer part # 3375471001 is designed for a 3/8" safety chain so that is what I must recommend. The pin which holds the chain to the retainer is rather larger so there is a chance it would not fit inside a 3/16" safety chain. The weight capacities would also be unknown if used with a different size chain.

I suggest upgrading to a 3/8" safety chain if using the above retainer.
