Swagman Chinook vs. Kuat Transfer For Mountain Bike and Road Bike

Question:

I recently purchased a 2018 Subaru Outback Limited with a 2 inch hitch receiver and am looking to buy my first hitch rack. It looks like the Swagman Chinook and the Kuat Transfer 2 bike racks are my two front runners. I am looking for a platform hitch rack that can tilt-away and fold-up. I mountain-bike and my girlfriend road bikes, so would need something that can accommodate both. I noticed the Kuat had a maximum wheelbase of 47, I am 63 with an XL Diamondback, and want to make sure the rack is able to safely carry my size of bike. We mostly bike within a 30 minute drive, but would want the option to take them on longer camping trips 4 hour drive as well without feeling nervous.

Since your mountain bike has a wheelbase of exactly 47 inches (I looked it up) the Kuat Transfer part # KU74FR would work great with it. Between this and the Chinook this rack is definitely the way to go. I really like that the only thing on your bike that it grabs is the tires which protects the finish of the bikes and is also very secure. This rack is also lighter weight, easier to store, and more stable as well so it's definitely the winner.

I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.
