Question:
I have a horse trailer and want to install PLR658-002 on both doors making a left and right door application but due to the thickness and the strength needed for the doors they are made of 1 1/2 tube steel which prevents prevents flush mount for doors and frame of trailer, there will be an offset of 1 1/2. So would I be able to Scheme the cams out to make them work and make a tight connection? Also how strong are the cams and hardware? Would they support the weight of a horse leaning on doors while in travel on road? Horses weigh approx. 840 – 2,200 lbs Adult Thank you for your time

The great thing about the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit # PLR658-002 is that since it's a universal application you can definitely use shims for the cams so that everything is lined up correctly.
When it comes to the strength of these, they are designed for large enclosed trailers which means they will definitely be up to the task of holding your doors in place, but they aren't really rated for a specific weight so I'm not sure how they would hold up to a horse leaning up against it. If there was a way that you could install something like a safety bar they would be leaning up against (with padding of course) instead of the door you might want to go that route just to be on the safe side of things.
One other thing you might be interested in is the Stainless Steel Hook and Keeper # PLR9-SS which is used to keep the door open. This is useful for windy days or if you're needing to clean out the trailer and the doors keep shutting on you.
