For your 2016 BMW X1, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13303. The towing capacity of your vehicle is rated at 3,700 lbs, so that is the maximum weight you can tow. This will work for your boat, jet ski, and bikes.
For your wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Connector # 118717 which will be plug and play. Then you can use the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7.5K # C45534 to get your vehicle ready for towing a trailer with a 2 inch ball compatible coupler which is most common for what you described towing.
