Troubleshooting MaxxFan MA00-07500K Deluxe Foof Vent Fan

Question:

I have a MaxxFan-smoke 7500k. The lid will not open or close. When I use the remote, all I hear is a beep. Which part do you think I need. And do you have a manual for that model?

I spoke with the folks at Airexcel, who ran through a few different troubleshooting scenarios with me. As a first step, disconnect power to the fan for a few minutes, then reconnect power to reset the circuit board.

If that fails to solve the problem, there are other things you can check. Can you operate the lid manually with the knob. If you cannot, it's an indication that either the mechanism is jammed or the lift motor is shorted out and needs replacing. A replacement lift motor is available as part # MA10-20270. If the lift motor isn't receiving power, then the most likely scenario there is that the circuit board is bad. If your MaxxFan is an exhaust only model, the correct replacement board is part # MA39FR or # MA10A21275K for models with a reversible fan.
