Is Underside of Heininger PortablePet Hitch Step HE3052 Flat and Smooth
Updated 04/16/2020 | Published 04/15/2020 >
Question:
What does this step look like on the bottom side of the step? Is it possible to mount it upside down to add a few inches of rise to the step rather than the that is built in the design and have it still function as a pet step? I realize that by doing so it would not be possible to store the step under the vehicle, but it would make the step much more useable for my pet and application. A photo of the bottom side would be very helpful ... thanks ...

The underside of the step isn't flat and smooth, as shown in the provided photo. It would still work for you, but I'd recommend using a piece of 1/4 inch plywood or a thin metal plate bolted onto the underside of the step if you wished to use it in the manner you describe. This would provide a smooth surface for your pet to step on. I've linked to a product demonstration video for the pet step.
