This unique, hitch-mounted step is perfect for your pet, and perfect for you too. Give your dog an unassisted boost into the back of your SUV or the bed of your pickup truck. Step up to reach the roof of your car, van or SUV. Use the platform as a temporary seat to lace up your hiking boots or as a shelf to set your backpack on while you check its contents. And when you're ready to hit the road again, just rotate the step beneath your vehicle for storage and travel.
To swivel the step, press the button on the side of the tower. This unlocks the cover, allowing you access to the pull knob. Lift the pull knob to release the swivel feature and rotate the platform 180 degrees. When the Twistep is in place, in either the stored or step position, the locating pin will snap into place.

It’s well built and solid to step on. My wife and I highly recommend it for large dogs or people.
Great product, really well built. Fits perfectly right out of the box on a 2022 4Runner. And contrary to other reviews you don’t need to buy a key lock for the hitch because it came with one (I will return the extra one I ordered with the hitch). So I will save that money; it’s an expensive solution but you definitely get what you pay for.
This is the second TwiStep we have. The first one is still in use on a 2014 Jeep Patriot. This one is on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. These things are really great and we’ll never go without them again. They are so convenient and easy to use day in and day out. Installation is a breeze, if you have a hitch receiver, you’re almost done already. We have six dogs, these give our older dogs their independence back and makes the smaller dogs feel like the big dogs. They are a touch pricey but nothing else even compares. The bearings do need to be lubed anywhere from monthly to every three months depending on where you drive. Dirt and muddy roads will require lubing more often. The good news is that lubing the bearings takes all of about 30 seconds, doesn’t require any tools or removal and you don’t have to get on the ground to do so. After the TwiStep is initially adjusted during installation, it tucks up under the vehicle and out of the way very nicely. We have no complaints or anything bad to say about these, you really can’t go wrong. Also, a big kudos shout out to the folks at etrailer. These folks are great and thanks for all of the how-to videos.
I mounted this on a Torklift hitch extension anchored to a Curt 2 1/2 receiver as a person stair to access an Alpenlite Camper on a F350 SD 4x4 SRW. Works great as an intermediate step between an adjustable leg step on the ground and the fold out step on the Alpenlite. Provides a large stable landing pad that Jane prefers to the somewhat wobbly scissor stairs, although I will put on a mount for the Step and Glo stairs with landing gear that will work better in some situations.
This thing is amazing. Been using it for a year with my two dogs. They love it. It really helps them get up easier into our Ford Escape, especially with getting older. And jump out of the car without as much wear and tear on their joints. I wish I would have bought this 5 years ago. Tried different ramps and stuff, and nothing was as good as this. And the ramps where are on my wife's shoulder trying to lift them out of the backseat area.
Best dog step on the market by far, very user friendly. Sturdy and you can tuck it under your vehicle when not using it. It would be nice if it came with a 2 inch hitch instead of the adaptor on 1/4 hitch.

Excellent - best dog hitch step out there!
I have easily 50 people ask me about our step. Absolutely love it. As a feature enhancement an electronic release would help the mobility challenged. I use mine for my service dog. He loves it too.
A must have for a 115 lb dog!
When folded under at lowest bolt setting, slightly rubs gas tank on Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 2018. !!!!!
Love the Twiststep! Have had one for my dogs for years and only had to replace the last one because I sold the car and the new buyer wanted it.
I recommend etrailer for the Twiststep and any hitch needs you have.
Sturdy and well built , noww we to train the big clumsy dog
Owned for over a year and this is an absolutely awesome product ! Highly recommend for dog owners. Leave it all the time with no issues!
Excellent platform size. It went on easily, well made.
The Twistep was ordered to gain easier access to my Alaskan Camper mounted on a GMC HD 2500 4X4 which is rather high. It seems great....non-slip surface and a good size for our two standard poodles. Tucks back under the truck when not in use, and will stay installed. I returned the SilentACT locking hitch pin, as it was not compatible for my application. My truck has a 2 1/2" hitch receiver, with a 2 " adapter, & the locking hitch pin did not work. I purchased a 5" course thread bold, large washers, & locking nut & the bolt is installed thru the receiver, threads thru both threaded areas on the Twistep, and is very securely mounted to the hitch. As the step will rarely be removed, this works fine.
I have a 2014 Escape and wanted to give my dogs a way to get in the back of my car without having to lift or assist them. This works perfectly. Was easy to install - easy to twist to put under the bumper - very secure and study for dogs. The Escape has the foot assisted lift gate - put your foot by the hitch and lift gate opens. Was concerned that every time I twisted it under the car it would open the gate. So far that has not happened and I can still use my foot to open the gate. I have a 2"receiver but the Advantage Threaded Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches - HE6033 is the hitch pin you want.
I love the adjustability and stability of this Twistep. The platform can be moved up or down as well as closer or further from the vehicle. And it's solid and doesn't bang around when driving over uneven surfaces. When researching hitch mounted platforms for my dogs, it was a toss up between this one and a 2-step hitch that folded up. I chose this one based on the size of the platform, which was considerably bigger than the steps on the 2-step hitch, and I'm glad I did. I have a Ridgeback mix and this is the perfect size for her.
If you have a large dog this is a must, steps 's right in the back of the car no jumping in and out hurting his joints!
Really Really Love it (and so do my dogs). Great Quality. Pretty much changed my life- always have had big dogs!! Great customer service by etrailer!

GREAT! Dogs Love it and I love it
Works well, easy to use, dogs adapted quickly to using it to jump in and out of crates in back of SUV
Very sturdy
Really good quality step. Like that it can be adjusted. The price was a put off at first, but really glad I ordered it. Fantastic quality.
My 11 year old baby (130# Anatolian Shepherd) has no problem using the step. He actually waits for me to pull the step out before he'll get in the back of the Outback.

It is difficult to find a lock for the step. I have a 2 receiver and havent been able to find a lock. I tried item HE6001 and the tread portion of the pin is too large. The lock recommended with the Twistep is for a 1-14 received and doesnt fit a 2 receiver. Ive purchased generic locks from my local store which have been too large. The pin diameter has been too large or the shaft has been too short. My husband is going to have to drill out the hole so I can lock the step.

Product is still working great and Jake enjoys getting in the vehicle.
We have used our PortablePet Twistep for several years very successfully on our SUV. Our German Shepard
Dog gets in and out of the car with ease.
I have a 2007 Tahoe with the step at the lowest drop it contacts the spare tire so we can't rotate it.
I have these steps on all of my vehicles. They are easy to use and work great for my older dogs.
The step works as advertised. It is very convenient and easy to use.

Works perfectly but lubrication is key. It stays on the Explorer year round in the Northeast so as with any hitch product, cleaning the salt off after the winter and any white lithium grease will extend the life of this product almost indefinitely. A little on the locking pin and pivot plate and you are good to go.
