Question:
Can a 5,200 lb lead axle and 3,500 lb trail axle be used in tandem or vice versa? Just curious to achieve weight rating in between, approx 8,700 lbs. I might hit the 7000 limit on occasion but would never come close to 10,400. Just thinking in the middle would give a better ride and never be overload for safety. 1966 Avion Travel Trailer Single Axle and converting to Tandem. I will also be possibly widening the stance for side to side stability. Very intriguing product for this project as it seams to simplify geometry and fabricating.

The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # ASR3500S05 is indeed an excellent option to either replace an existing trailer axle or upgrading from single to tandem axles. If you were upgrading, using two axle-less kits would indeed be a walk in the park when compared to welding on new leaf springs hangers. That said, you will need to use two kits with the same weight capacity as the dimension and durometer of the rubber is not the same for different weight capacities. It's better to have a higher weight capacity than you need so in that case it may be better to use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # ASR5200S01.
Please note, I think you may be forgetting tongue weight. The trailer tongue will hold around 10-15% of the trailer's entire weight so you can subtract this when figuring the weight capacity of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System.
