Optimal Cross Bar Spread For Adjustable Roof Rack Bars When Using Yakima Roof Basket

Question:

Is it better to place the the YAKIMA - Mega Warrior Roof Cargo Basket toward the front of the vehicle, rear of the vehicle or center it on the roof. I have a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with pano roof.

It sounds like you have adjustable cross bars on your 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. The optimal cross bar setup on average is 10" back from the windshield because that is where the roof supports begin. Besides that measurement, the Yakima MegaWarrior Extra Large Roof Rack Cargo Basket part # Y07080-82 has a minimum cross bar spread from the center of the first bar to the center of the rear bar of 36". As long as your cross bar spread is between 36" and 60" there is not a spot that is considered better.
