Question:
Hi, I just installed a 4 way flat system on to my car. My trailer that I ordered came in with a 7 way system which I wasn’t expecting. I bought a 7 way to 4 way adapter for the trailer side but ended up that both ends are now female plugs. Is there any way I can solve this or a male to male 4 way adapter or a male 4way to 7 way female adapter. Thanks

The main issue you're going to have here is that if your trailer came with a 7 way connector, it's most likely got brakes on it- so the 4 way on your vehicle isn't going to allow those brakes to function. You'll need to add a 7 way connector and, if you don't already have one, a brake controller to your vehicle. Not having a functional 7 way on your vehicle will not allow all of the circuits on the trailer to properly function and you would not have functioning brakes on the trailer-which might be illegal depending on the weight of it.
Your best bet to add the correct working components is going to be the # ETBC7L (for wireless brake controller like the Echo) or # ETBC7 (for wired), which will add a working 7 way to your tow vehicle. From there, you'll need a brake controller like the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180, which is the easiest to install brake controller on the market since it simply plugs into the 7 way connector on your vehicle. If your trailer doesn't have brakes, you can use the # ETBC7L since it doesn't require that you connect the blue brake controller wire inside the vehicle.
If you can provide me with the year/make/model vehicle you're towing with, I can provide you with some other options that might be a little bit more economical than the Curt Echo.
