On this page I attached a link to an article that covers replacing a factory brake controller in GM trucks like yours with aftermarket ones like the Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR that you referenced which will do a much better job than the integrated controller it sounds like you have now. The install harness you'd need then is the # 3016-S.
You most likely will need to scroll down to the heading the says Misc. Media or Helpful Info.
