Question:
Hello we have an Aluma car hauler that doesnt exceed 5000 lbs, and a short wheelbase 1/2 ton pickup tow vehicle. The trailer imparts motions to our truck that doesnt feel comfortable, so we would like to purchase a device to absorb the trailer motions. Weve found 3 and need a comparison between them. The Convert-A-Ball dual cushion seems superior in that it absorbs both up and down and in and out motions, but it has two loose spots that might rattle. The Glyder and Shockers both absorb the up and down and with anti-rattle would have zero rattle points. What we and the public need is a professional evaluation of these three devices to see which one best eliminates trailer created motions in the tow vehicle, and if they can do so without generating noise heard inside the vehicle. Thanks,

The Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM is indeed an excellent option that will help improve the overall towing experience by decreasing the felt road shock in the tow vehicle. The Convert-A-Ball in particular as you mentioned provides both up and down as well as side to side support via the polyurethane core. The advantage of the polyurethane core over other products which use rubber like the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount part # 325-GH-12005 or air like the Shocker Air Receiver is that it will be maintenance free which cannot be said for air and it is more durable therefore will last longer when compared to rubber.
In regards to rattle, this would only potentially be an issue when not in use as the pressure on the ball mount should then prevent any rattle while towing. I can't speak for those that we do not have experience with but the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount gives you the best bang for your buck by far.
I have attached a list of all our cushioned ball mounts for you to look through as well.

Can a Gen-Y Glyder Hitch Item # 325-GH-12005 be used with Reese Friction Sway Control Kit Item # 83660 & Reese Sway-Control Bracket Item # RP26003? Possible application would be a 2019 VW Atlas SEL 4motion and a Lance Travel Trailer 1475 with gvwr=3700? TIA
