Question:
Can you supply the connector and lead assembly to go from the Subaru 2011 Forester connector to wire into my european 7pin trailer socket? Or can you even just supply the male connector with short lead outs and colour codes for me to splice in?

Expert Reply:
A European 7-Way trailer connector has the same functions that a US 4-Way has. We do not have an adapter or a harness made with a European 7-Way. If your 2011 Subaru Forester was made for the North American market then you can use the Curt harness, # C56040.
However, to get it to work with a European 7-Way, you would need to cut off the 4-Way end and then use another converter, # 118158. You would attach the the white, green, and yellow wires on the input side with the matching colors on the Curt harness 4-Way end you cut off. The brown wire would bypass the converter but you would need to attach a jumper wire to it because the European 7-Way has 2 pins for tail lights.
I have included a picture that might help with the remainder of the wiring. The yellow wire from the converter would go to the 1 pin. Green would go to the 4 pin. Red would go to the 6 pin. One brown wire would go to the 5 pin, the jumper would go to the 7 pin.
You would need to attach your own wire to the 3 pin and attach the other end to the vehicle frame on a bare metal surface. If the trailer requires fog lights you could attach a wire to the 2 pin and attach the other end to a fog light wire on the vehicle.
