Trailer Lights Only Work When Hooked up to Vehicle With Ball Mount

Question:
Light came on when chains and the ball hook up was done. But no light if they are not touching the truck

If your trailer lights are only coming on and working when you are hooked up to your tow vehicle through the ball mount, the issue is a bad ground on your trailer; essentially the trailer lights are being grounded through the hitch ball. You'll need to make sure your grounds are attached to bare metal surfaces and free of any paint, dirt or corrosion.
