Will Thule T2 for 1-1/4 inch Hitch Fold Up on 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with Curt Hitch Installed
Published 01/02/2020 >
Question:
Any possible problems with my Thule T2 Classic 2 bike platform Rack not being able to fold up if using the Curt C12184 hitch? I dont have the measurements to do the math. Im taking it for granted that there should be enough clearance to lock in folding position when bike is not on the rack. This is for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. You are installing in a couple of weeks. Dont want to get home and find out I cant fold the bike rack up. It worked fine on my Cruze but I am changing to a new hitch because I sold the Cruze. Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
When the Thule T2 Classic TH9045 is folded up there will be 3-1/2 inches from the center of its hitch pin hole to the nearest rail. The Curt hitch part # C12184 that you referenced would allow the rack to still fold up as it's not really recessed under the rear of the vehicle and we have pictures of a Kuat bike rack folded up with similar clearances and there wasn't an issue at all.
