Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brakes Not Working with Pedal on 2010 Dodge Ram Factory Controller
Published 05/14/2012 >
Question:
Which CAM module is required to make the 2010 Dodge Ram controller work with the electric over hydraulic brakes? My manual override controls the brakes fine, but I do not feel any braking in the automatic mode.

Expert Reply:
The adapter, # HBA-CAM is designed for Chevy and Ford integrated brake controllers. The Dodge integrated brake controller is not designed for use with electric over hydraulic braking systems at all. The best way to resolve the issue is to bypass the Dodge controller and use one that is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes.
I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885 and wiring harness # 3021-P.
In order to install this controller you will need to disconnect the integrated controller which will give you a warning light on the dash. In order to disconnect the ITBM and not get the warning lamp, your local Dodge dealer will have to reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), of the truck. Once the TIPM has been reconfigured, and the ITBM has been unplugged, you can use a vehicle specific brake control harness # 3021-P.
To disconnect the ITBM, you will need to contact Business Center to remove the sales code (XHC). The TIPM will need to be reconfigured. Once the sales code has been disabled you can disconnect the ITBM electrical connector, under the dash, without getting the warning lamp.
We have an FAQ article on this issue which I have linked for you. I have also included a link to the instructions for the wiring harness and a link to the instructions for the brake controller.
