Thank you for all of the details! I have the perfect combination for you to use for the outdoor cargo on your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 long bed.

If you check out the RetraxPRO XR # RTT-80485 you will see a number of features that specifically meet your needs. This is a retractable cover that can be locked in any position along the rails. Not only does this mean quick access to any cargo you might need in your bed, but it also provides enough security that you can lock the cover and your truck bed without the worry that someone can simply walk by and grab something from your truck bed. Since this is a hard cover they would need to physically destroy the cover to gain access to your cargo.

The RetraxPRO XR also includes the Trax Rails that allow you to use the Yakima OverHaul HD # Y01151-5855. This is a unique ladder rack that was designed for use with the Trax Rails so not only can you move your ladder rack uprights along the trails (back and forth), but you can actually adjust the height of the crossbars by raising or lowering the legs. This means that you can raise the ladder rack for cab clearance when carrying longer items (like a kayak or canoe) but then you can lower it below your cab height when you aren't using them or if you have a smaller accessory that won't make contact with your cab.
