Question:

I have a 2011 Infiniti EX35 and Im looking at either getting a back rack like this or getting a hitch mounted bike rack. I dont have a hitch on the vehicle, so I would have to get that in addition to a hitch mounted bike rack. In the notes on all trunk mounted racks Thule says if the EX35 has a spoiler its a no fit. However all EX35s have a small spoiler on the top of the rear hatch. Do you have any experience on the fit of this rack on the EX35 since they all have spoliers. Thanks.

I contacted Thule and they informed me that since your 2011 Infiniti EX35 has a spoiler on it you would not be able to install a trunk mounted bike rack like the Thule Gateway 3 Bike Carrier # TH78VR that you referenced.

Since you were already considering installing a hitch and using a hitch mounted bike rack I would recommend you go that route. The recommended hitch for your vehicle is the Curt Trailer Hitch # 11510.

However, since the only hitch available for your vehicle is a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch you will be limited to only carrying 2 bikes because of the lower tongue weight capacity of the hitch.

Based on that I would recommend you get a Swagman Titan 2 Bike Carrier, part # S63400. This rack has anti-sway cradles to help prevent your bikes from contacting each other and has an anti-theft locking cable to help keep your bikes from getting stolen. An optional locking anti-rattle hitch pin, part # S64029 is also available.
