I'll start off by addressing the installation, and a lot of this depends on your mechanical ability. I would say that as long as you're comfortable turning a wrench, the installation of a winch mount like the Bulldog Winch Mounting Plate # BDW20208 is not overly complicated and would be considered a DIY.
With that being said, the Bulldog # BDW20208 is only compatible with select Jeep JK and JK Unlimited models between 2013-2016 and is designed to be mounted between the two front bumper pillars, so it would not fit your truck. In order to install a winch plate on your 2001 Toyota Tacoma you will want to use a universal mounting plate like the Bulldog Winch Universal Winch Mounting Plate for Truck # BDW20008 which will work with any winch that has the universal 10 x 4.5 mounting holes.
