What Is the Amp Hour Capacity When Combining Two Six Volt Batteries In Series

Question:

So if I connect 2 6volt batteries in series to get 12 volt output, if each battery is 250ah, how many ah will I have as a result. Will they actually double? Also, how do I charge them?

The voltage will double when connecting batteries in series but the amp hour capacity will remain the same. Therefore, if you connect two 6 volt batteries in series with a 250 amp hour capacity then the voltage output will be 12 but the amp hour capacity will remain at 250. In order to double amp hour capacity you would need to connect two 12 volt batteries in parallel as the voltage would remain at 12 but the amp hour capacity would double.

In regards to charging, you can charge both when wired as stated above with the NOCO Genius On-Board Battery Charger part # 329-GEN1.
