Question:

I'm looking at the available hitch options that fit the 2020 Subaru Forester and not sure how to select the Curt or Draw-Tite over the other. What do you recommend and why?

Expert Reply:

While the Curt # C13409 and Draw-Tite # 76271 both have a 525lb tongue weight, 3,500 maximum gross trailer weighting and 5/8" pin hole with similar safety chain openings and ground clearance, there are some differences.

The Draw Tite # 76271 is my recommendation. It has a matte finish, with a more round and fuller looking collar. If towing is a planned use for your hitch, the Draw-Tite is your only option that's approved for with a weight distribution system. A minute differentiator here too is that the Draw-Tite has an additional J-pin anti-rattle hole available. A J-Pin ready receiver design allows for a confident and secure hookup in today's towing market by compressing the hitch-mounted accessory against the inner side wall of the hitch receiver tube.

Both options look great and really comes down to what's most important to you but in my view, the Draw-Tite is the winner.
