Does The Manager30 Replace Solar Panel Controller

Question:
Does this take the place of the solar controller on my system? I have 2 200W roof mounted panels and an Epever 4215BN 40A controller with a 240 ah prismatic lithium battery that I built myself. Sounds like this makes the controller obsolete? Also it looks like there may need to be new wiring from the tow vehicle as the photo looks like much higher gauge wire than youd normally see.

Yes, the The Manager30 Battery Management System with Lithium Profile # RED88FR takes place of the solar controller for your current solar panel system. Solar panel controllers are used to help manage the power coming in from the panels and since The Manager30 does the same thing it actually can't be installed with a solar panel controller. The Manager30 is definitely an upgrade though as it pulls power from the solar panels and your vehicle start batter (via the alternator). It prioritizes solar panel power input though so you won't be putting as much stress on your start battery.
You do need higher gauge wire and for that you can use something like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20026 which uses 3 gauge wire.
We recently had the opportunity to shoot an installation video of this exact setup on a Forest River travel trailer that I have attached for you to check out. In this video we list out the following parts as recommendations to use for the install:
40-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit - # 331-FK40 (which is required)
Spectro Ring Terminal - # SWC57025Z
Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing - # DW05402
LaSalle Bristol XTRM Universal Self-Leveling Sealant - # 34427034145-1
LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape - # 344270341410-1
Self-Tapping Screw - # FA1131822
I am attaching a wiring diagram from the installation instructions that you can reference. In this diagram you'll note that it mentions the Redarc Smart Start Load Disconnect # 331-SBI12-BLD. This isn't required but it is useful as it keeps your trailer battery from pulling power when your start battery charge gets too low. If you are interested in using this then you might consider the Redarc Smart Start Battery Isolator with Wiring Kit # 331-SBI12KIT which comes with everything you need to install the isolator.
