Question:
I just purchased the Curt C11000 for my 2012 VW Golf TDI. That hitch comes with a draw bar. Not sure what the rise is on that draw bar, but would I need to go with a higher rise to level out the trailer? Im still waiting on the hitch and wiring kit to get here in the next day or two, but I just wanted to make sure I have the right equipment so Im not scrambling for parts when I purchase the utility trailer I want.

Expert Reply:
The draw bar included with the hitch is part # C45016, which has a 2-5/8 inch rise, or 3-1/4 inch drop.
Ideally, you want to tow the trailer so that it is as level as possible, but being within an inch and a half either way is close enough for government work. Keep in mind that hitch is designed to work best with a draw bar with the same drop as the C45016, and using a draw bar with a different rise or drop is not recommended.
I will link you to our FAQ article that shows how to correctly measure for the needed draw bar.
