Question:
I read the part about the grease. I removed the hitch using the pin removed. I found one rubber square cushion loose and re tightened. I allied plenty of new grease. We started driving and it is a bit better but still hear popping. Any ideas??

There are several parts on the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16130 that need greased regularly; one zerk on each side of the head, one zerk in the center of the jaw, and the cam on the locking jaw mechanism. I have attached a photo that shows each of these points for you but also make sure you are using the appropriate grease type as this is important as well.
If the issue is still not fixed once you have greased all of the above components then the next thing you will want to turn your attention to is the rubber damper bushing inside the head. If these are worn or dry rotted then you will need to replace them with the Replacement Service Kit for Curt Q20 part # C16125-SK9 but aside from this I don't have any other things for you to check. If all else fails, the head and center section can be replaced with the Replacement Head Unit for Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16530
