Installing Tekonsha Wiring Harness # 118652 on 2016 Lexus NX 300h

Question:

I have gone in and tried twice to access the taillight plugs to them. These are the least detailed instructions Ive ever had with an E trailer purchase. There are problems from users of the Curt model as well, and yet no update on trunk panel removal. Can get to where trunk bed, and all lower panels are removed. This does not allow access to the tail light connectors. Getting the molded black fuzz covered side panels the ones the connectors lie behind off has eluded me. I dont want to break these panels or damage the connectors that continue to hold. Ive tried removing all d-rings and still no go. I wish you folks - those that do this many more times than I - would put someone on this and provide an update to the totally sparse instruction sheet for this install. Read the reviews, the one by Terrence Curt model for instance. Ive installed a good number of etrailer components, and all were more than adequately documented. The question form I look at as I type right now, has 9 smiling dudes beneath the etrailer.com logo. Lets go guys, a little help here.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you're having trying to gain access to the connectors behind the tail lights of your 2016 Lexus NX 300h. I reached out to my contact at Tekonsha to see if he had any insight on this and he said they haven't received any customer feedback themselves on the T-One # 118652 regarding the install process so he wasn't able to provide any additional info.

I definitely do see the other customer reviews that you mentioned describing similar trouble though. You mentioned that you have gotten as far as removing the lower panels inside the trunk but aren't able to remove the molded black side panels, which is likely what's going to expose the tail light wiring and connectors. Since we haven't gotten a chance ourselves to install this particular harness on this vehicle the only thing I can think of is that there's a couple small wing nuts somewhere along these panels that may be hidden from view that need to be loosened.

If you are able to email me a picture directly of the cargo area on your Lexus I may be able to provide more detailed instructions.
