Question:
I have a 7 pin trailer plug and when I hook up to my trailer it indicates a trailer on my consul. But when I press on the brakes It does not show power going to the brakes.

Most likely you have an issue with the stoplight circuit of your 2013 GMC Sierra not able to tell the brake controller that the brakes are being applied. For your generation of truck this is commonly due to the third brake light or CHMSL fuse being blown. You can check this quickly by pressing the brakes and seeing if the third brake light comes on.
