Question:

Hi! I am interested in the Thule 3-carrier trunk mount bike rack for a 2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. Would I also need to purchase the adapter listed to the side of bike rack for a childs 16-inch bike, youth 20-inch bike and a ladies bike? I want to be sure I get everything I need in one order as I am taking these bikes with me on vacation. Thank you for your time and help in advance. If you have a different suggestion and/or ideas for a 4 bike rack, please offer. Thanks!

The Thule OutWay 3 Bike Carrier, # TH56BV, would make a great choice for carrying 3 bikes on the rear of your 2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. The trunk mount racks are a good option, if you will not need to access the trunk area of the vehicle while traveling with the bikes on the vehicle.

You would need to purchase a bike adapter bar, like part # TH982XT, for each bike that does not have a horizontal top tube that will slide over the bike rack arms. We have a video, see link, that shows this adapter bar in use. This should help you determine which of your bikes needs an adapter.

Since you are planning on taking your bikes on vacation, you might find yourself needing to access the trunk of your vehicle while on the road. In this case I would recommend a receiver hitch and hitch mounted bike rack for your Genesis. The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch, # C12086, would allow you to select a bike rack that would allow access to the trunk and can carry up to 4 bikes. For a 4 bike rack that is compatible with a Class II hitch, I recommend the Thule Camber 4 Bike Rack, # TH9056, which is very easy to use and folds up compact for storage. We have a video review of this rack also. You will still need to determine if you need an adapter bar for each bike you will be carrying.
