Question:

I have a 2015 Honda CRV 4 door, and looking at the Scamp 13foot shower and toilet trailer. Will I be safe towing this camper? and what hitch do I need for my CRV? Thank you!

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2015 Honda CR-V and it lists a maximum trailer weight of 1,500 pounds. Based on my research the 13 foot Scamp trailers can weigh between 1,300 and 1,600 pounds. Since this range does push and potentially exceed the limits of your CR-V I highly recommend verifying the camper's GVWR, which is the most the trailer can weigh when fully loaded, with the Scamp dealer before making a purchase.

If you find that the camper will fall below the towing capacity of your CR-V then you will need a trailer hitch, a wiring harness, and a ball mount/hitch ball combo to pull it on your trips.

Starting with the trailer hitch I highly recommend the etrailer.com Class III # e98868 that features more capacity than needed, a unique matte black finish for a rugged appearance that's scratch resistant, and is made right here in the USA. Then for wiring the Tekonsha T-One Wiring Harness # 118561 will work perfectly. This custom harness will plug right into factory ports behind the trim panels in the rear cargo area. It will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with and power the trailer's basic signal lights.

Lastly for a ball mount the Curt # C45230 along with the 2" Hitch Ball # 40038 will work really nicely. The 2-3/8" rise on the ball mount will create a level setup when hooked up to the Scamp trailer and based on my research the Scamp couplers are designed for 2" hitch balls.
