Question:
Roof Box for 2008 Chevy Equinox Hello, We are considering purchasing a 2008 Chevy Equinox for our son’s first car. He is a ski racer and has skis 6’8” long. We are wondering if there is a box that will fit on this vehicle and not interfere with the antenna and still be long enough for his skis. It has the factory rails, so we will need to buy the crossbars or whatever else is needed. Thank you!

That's awful nice of you to do for your son and I'm sure he'll be appreciative as you support his ski racing. We can help you and your son along the way because we have the exact parts you need to add a roof rack and rooftop box for his skis so he can easily transport them on his way to competitions or practice.
First, let's start with a roof rack, and there is one rack that will fit a 2008 Chevy Equinox with flush-mounted rails, and it is a square bar system from Inno. This rack is composed of Inno Square Crossbars # INB117, Inno Feet for Square Crossbars # INTR and Custom Fit Kit for Inno Roof Rack Feet # INTR103.
This will give him the ability to mount a rooftop box for his skis and the best option for that is the Yakima SkyBox 12 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07334 because it has the length to carry your son's 80 inch skis (it can carry skis up to 84-1/2 inches long) but at just 24 inches wide is the narrowest rooftop box that can handle the size of his skis to help avoid the antenna.
The SkyBox 12 also comes with locks to help keep the skis safely in the cargo box, and can be opened from either side which makes it easier to load and unload. The only other thing I recommend is adding the Inno Fairing for Roof Racks # INA261 for use with the square crossbars, which will significantly cut down on the wind noise and drag, helping ensure a pleasant drive.
I have added links to video reviews of the Inno rack, fairing and Yakima cargo box for you to check out as well.
