I'll gladly walk you through my top recommendations for the best and easiest towing components to install on your 2011 Ford Edge.

When it comes to the trailer hitches we have available for your 2016 Ford Edge, they all pretty much install the same way. However, I recommend the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98870 because it fits both the Sport and non-Sport versions of the Ford Edge so it will fit your vehicle without a question. It features a superior matte black powder coat finish which will hide any scratches or nicks much better than your traditional glossy finishes and it's proudly made right here in the USA!

My wiring harness recommendation is the easy to install T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118515. The installation is quite simple since it plugs directly into your existing wiring on your Edge, behind the tail lights. It does feature a powered module which you will need to connect directly to the battery with the included wire but that is a step required for any harness for your specific vehicle. You'll need to do this in order to prevent overloading your vehicle's electrical system.

A 4-pole mounting bracket like # 18144 is optional. If you plan on towing often then it's convenient to have the 4-Pole connector secured to the outside for quick plugging and unplugging. For the occasional towing, you will be better off leaving the harness inside of your trunk out of the elements and pulling it out only when needed.

When we installed the e98870 we found it to measure 13 inches from the ground which means you'll likely need a ball mount with about 2-4 inches of a rise. A standard trailer has a coupler height of around 17 inches but you'll want to measure yours just to make sure. Our etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989892 will be an excellent choice for you.
