Winch Recommendation for Moving Rolling 13,000 lb Load Up and Down Slope
Published 08/29/2019 >
Question:
Your answer still leaves me with a subtle confusion. For those of us who have less experience with winching, telling me that a winch has a brake doesn't sound the same as a feature that allows a winch to be gradually rolled out at 100% rated capacity. Maybe that's what having a "break" means in winching terms but I might think that other inexperienced winch purchasers might be confused by the term.

In general with rolling loads that will have to be pulled up a slope or incline with a winch you need a winch with the same capacity as the load you need to move.
So you'd need a winch with a capacity greater than 13,000 lbs like the Superwinch Talon part # SW1614201 which has a 14,000 lb capacity. This comes with a 90 foot long rope as well so you'll get quite a bit of range from it. This also has a braking setup that gives it 100 percent of the winch capacity as well so it would work in that regard too.
