Tips for Demco GM OEM Rail Kit Adapter Stuck in Truck Bed
Published 07/24/2019 >
Question:
Good morning, Last night I tried to remove the prep plate from the bed of my truck. Should be pretty simple, right? Undo the wing nut and turn the locking mechanism a quarter of a turn to release. Well, when I turn that locking mechanism, you can hear it moving or releasing, but the plate is still locked in place. I even tried using a 2 ton engine hoist to pull it loose, but it wouldnt budge. Have you heard of this issue before? thanks

Sounds like something is binding in the pucks/hitch tube or one of the releases is still stuck. Have you tried hitting the portion of it that fits down into the hitch with spray lube at all?
One trick that helps others in similar situations is to put a hitch in the adapter and then put the pin weight of a trailer onto it and then try to release the rail kit as this normally allows the mechanism to fully release. From there you can remove it from the hitch.
