Question:
Which is the better choice for this vehicle regarding ease of use and overall stability to carry 2 bikes. 1Saris Bones 2 bike carrier OR 2Yakima hangout 2 bike rack Also, if Saris Bones is chosen, a Tech Tip on your website on the 2017 Toyota Highlander says that Two SA3035s are required to replace top and side hooks but the video for the SA3035s only shows them being used to replace the top hooks. Also on the SA3035 sheet there is a list of vehicles and the Toyota Highlander does not appear to be included. Definitely confused. Please clarify. Thank You

The Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier part # SA805BL is a better choice for your 2017 Toyota Highlander than the Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack part # Y02637 because the straps that are used to secure the bikes are easier to use (ease of use), the Hatch Huggers have less potential to cause damage to the vehicle (peace of mind), and the three independent points of contact will be more stable (stability).
In order to use the Saris Bones 2 on your Toyota Highlander you will need two sets of the Hatch Huggers for Saris Trunk Mount Bike Racks part # SA3035 to replace the top and side hooks. I am not sure which video that you are referring to but this is the correct process as per the manufacturer. The list of compatible vehicles for the Hatch Huggers that you seen in the manual is very outdated. I confirmed with Saris the Hatch Huggers will fit your Toyota Highlander.
